What Are Keywords?

Getting an idea is extremely hard... especially, when you are trying to get an idea. and once you have an idea, you wonder "How could I develop this idea into a theme-based content site?"  Creative Keyword Research: All It Takes Is a LittleStimulation.  May just be the answer.

When I first started out on this fascinating interesting journey of Internet and Article Marketing, having little, if any previous expose to this realm one of my initial questions was “What are Keywords”.

How many of us new ‘Newbie’s’ to the mind boggling world of Internet Marketing initially thought that the instant you uploaded your newly created (worlds greatest) web site to a host site, it would ‘as if by magic’ appear on each and every search engine out there on the bog old ‘WWW’.

I hear some of you out there saying word to the effect "You mean it doesn't"? Some of you older hands I hear secretly sniggering because you, through acquired experience, know that, No... it doesn't appear ‘as if by magic’ on everyone search result, not without a little work . But, I in my naivety, honestly though that’s what happened.

Let me explain. Search Engines operate in a very similar manner to your telephone directory. Both itemise companies by category, rather than use the term categories, Search Engines use expression keywords. When you received your company telephone number you were in all probability asked which category best suits your business that you would like to be listed under. Search Engines use a very similar logic to itemise web pages and site.

Consider which keywords your site visitors are most likely to use when they search for you on the internet, and then include those words into your Web site and – probably more importantly in your articles if article Marketing.

Let’s assume you have a dog grooming business you set up a website, the key phrases may possibly be: dog grooming but also pet grooming, dog bathing, grooming and boarding.

You need to identify the words (keywords) those that the majority of people would potentially enter when searching the Internet for a site dealing with ‘dog grooming’ and other site similar to yours.

This can be quite a daunting process especially those new to the realm of Internet marketing

How do you identify the most effective keywords to use that will bring highly interested customers to YOUR site?

  • You could guess and be fortunate enough to have some visitor’s stumble upon your site
  • You might be lucky enough to have instinctively identified you markets keywords
  • You could use a keyword tool or keyword generator to do all the hard work for you

There are many free keyword tools on the internet, just type into your search engine of choice “free keyword tool” or “free keyword generator” and you should see quite an extensive list of options.

Some of the more frequently used free keyword tool you’ll find and hear referred to by other Internet Marketing / Affiliate Marketing gurus are:

  • Google
  • SEO
  • Wordtracker free - (The Wordtracker keyword suggestion tool is FREE more advanced element are paid for)

They’re not difficult to use and there are lots of training document and videos freely available on the internet explaining how to use them and the vendors themselves usually have quite extensive training module so you should get a good idea of how to proceed.

As you can now probably see, there much more to keywords than initially meets the eye.  I hope to expand on the subject if the future and explain more of the intricacy of the weird and wonderful world of keywords.
